(DRV)

[1] -Ver. 1. Scroll (Heb.: megilloth): the ancient form of the book was a volume or a roll, and this particular roll was written on the inside and on the outside meaning that the message was inviolable and will take place.
[2] –Ver. 3. Look thereon: to examine it and see what it contained.
[3] -Ver. 5. Root of David: the lion is also the symbol of the royal house of David. Christ comes of the seed of David and the prophets described Him as the branch that would spring from the ancient stock. Cf. Isa. 11:1.
[4] -Ver. 8. The Greek text reads, “when he
had taken the scroll.”
[5] -Ver. 12. Divinity: the Greek text reads “wealth.” But it means the wealth of the riches in Christ that St. Paul tells us is the eternal life promised us by Jesus Christ Himself and only in Him. See Eph. 3:8, the word in Greek is the same: ploutos, plouton. It is the adoption unto life eternal that the saints alone have.
